Early Childhood

In Early Childhood, PWS provides an inspiring environment

both inside our cozy classrooms and outdoors by our field, streams, playgrounds, and magical Walnut Hill playspace and garden. The young child is held in reverence by loving teachers and parents and allowed to explore the beauty that surrounds them, planting the seeds of imagination, creativity, and confidence.

Bluebell Parent/Child Classes

The Parent/Child program offers families an opportunity to connect with other parents in a peaceful and nurturing community atmosphere. The classes are developmentally designed to support the healthy exploration and natural initiative of each individual child while introducing parents to new concepts about child development, sleep, nutrition and healthy daily rhythms that simplify the journey of parenting. Teachers gently guide and support the natural play and interactions of the children toward a healthy acquisition of important social skills through play, simple movement games, seasonal songs and activities. These seemingly simple activities are the building blocks for elementary school and a lifelong love of learning. Each week is rooted in a soothing rhythm that becomes familiar to parents and provides a secure foundation for the children where we will feel the importance of community, develop friendships and discover the importance of play in the early years.

Rose & Lily Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten program offers young children ages 4-6 daily opportunities for dynamic, self-initiated free play with ample time and space provided for both indoor and outdoor activities. Artistic and domestic activities such as watercolor painting, natural crafts, baking and seasonal cooking nourish and delight the senses. With a deep understanding of child development, our teachers take great care to inspire natural learning in a relaxed and peaceful setting. Through structured and unstructured activity, the development of hand-eye coordination, attention span, awareness of patterns, and appreciation for the beauty of language foster the child’s natural capacities for literacy, numeracy, and imaginative spatial and scientific thinking. The combination of a nurturing environment, predictable rhythm, and mindful teaching support each child in building their solid foundation for future academic success, an intact sense of wonder, and a lifelong love of learning.
