Once a week, the kindergarten classes at PWS go to a magical place they call Tree World. Just a five minute walk from school, and they are in a private, forested area. Once there, the children run, climb, build houses made of grass, whittle sticks, wade in the creek and jump in the mud.
While this is great fun, of course, there are also substantial social, emotional, academic and health benefits that children gain from regularly spending time in nature. To learn more read this comprehensive study by The Children & Nature Network– it gives an in-depth explanations of these benefits.
And be sure to watch the short video below for a taste of the kindergarten Tree World experience.
