January Community Newsletter

New Year Reflections

As we look back at 2022, we are grateful for so much! We'd like to share a special thanks to our new Pedagogical Director, Chiaki Uchiyama. She joined us at the beginning of the school year and we deeply appreciate her compassionate leadership and service to our teachers. We are so lucky to have a collaborative leadership team, including Pedagogical Director, Chiaki Uchiyama; School Director, Jamie Lloyd; and High School Chair, Nina Churchill.

Of course everyone's highlight of the year is being back together in person, not only for school, but also for festivals, concerts, and so many beloved community gatherings. We are also grateful for the safety of our community as we have completed Phase 1 of our seismic upgrades, and Phase 2 is coming soon.

Looking ahead to 2023, we are excited for our Ruby Gala Auction, our first auction since 2019! We are pleased to be getting ready to put our new Strategic Plan into action. It is inspiring to reflect on how we want to prioritize our efforts over the next three years. We also look forward to the rich learning experiences ahead for our students - in the classroom, on field trips, performing plays, in clubs and sports, and more!

We'd like to share warm birthday wishes for Martin Luther King Jr., who was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, GA and would have been 94 years old this year.
