Preschool
Our Preschool program offers children a simple daily rhythm as the teachers weave simple songs, movement games, and stories with indoor and outdoor free play. The simplicity of our beautiful classrooms allows teachers to guide children through the gentle rhythms of each day in a joyful and predictable manner. Our playful curriculum supports the development of hand-eye coordination, attention span, awareness of patterns and sequencing, and appreciation for the beauty of language.
Kindergarten
Our mixed-age kindergarten program offers young children ages 4–6 daily opportunities for dynamic, self-initiated free play with ample time and space provided for both indoor and outdoor activities. Artistic and domestic activities such as watercolor painting, natural crafts, baking and seasonal cooking nourish and delight the senses. With a deep understanding of child development, our teachers take great care to inspire natural learning in a relaxed and peaceful setting.
Through structured and unstructured activity, the development of hand-eye coordination, attention span, awareness of patterns, and appreciation for the beauty of language foster the child’s natural capacities for literacy, numeracy, and imaginative spatial and scientific thinking.
A mixed-age environment fosters social learning, as the younger children are inspired to grow and stretch themselves to meet their older friends, and the older children find themselves acting as guides and caretakers for the littler ones. The combination of a nurturing environment, predictable rhythm, and mindful teaching support each child in building their solid foundation for future academic success, an intact sense of wonder, and a lifelong love of learning.
Grade 1
Learning is a tangible activity that engages their entire being through experience and imagination. Our Grade 1 students listen to fairy tales and nature stories, draw letters and numbers, and learn letter sounds and combinations. These decoding activities, built upon the rich oral storytelling of the early childhood years, provide strong foundations for reading, writing and vocabulary.
Grade 1 math is a subject on the go! Movement accompanies the introduction and practice of all four arithmetic processes.
Grade 1 students also learn songs and poems in Spanish and Mandarin by ear, begin to develop spatial awareness through eurythmy, and train their fingers to knit and play the wooden flute.
